4th of July Annual Meeting, Picnic & ParadeSaturday, July 6th
Parade: line up will begin at 10:45 in front of Watts' gate on Goat Creek Road. New this year is a float contest with prizes awarded for the best decorations! Picnic: will commence at the conclusion of the parade, around 11:45 am. SCWR will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, buns, condiments, and paper goods. Please bring your own lawn chairs, beverages, and a side dish, salad, or dessert to share. Silent auction: will be held during the picnic and business meeting. Please consider donating items to the auction, anything from used garage tools to fine crafts or artwork. Funds from the silent auction are the main source of income for SCWR to maintain fire fighting equipment. Annual meeting: will take place at 12:45 pm. There are three board members whose terms are expiring: Carrie Barnhart, Lisa Prunty, and James Sletten. Nominations for board members to replace these positions can be submitted now via email or in person at the meeting. Board members must be in good standing with SCWR, but no experience is necessary to be elected to the board. |
Weed Season is upon us...
A note from Bob the Weed Warrior:
Thistle rosettes and first year houndstongue leaves are growing fast – time to get spraying!
Herbicide from the Forest Service is now available in the 3 drum locations:
There are 3 loaner backpack sprayers at the Fire Barn. This year we got mixture of Milestone for thistles and Escort for houndstongue.
We are trying to get the Forest Service to give us many containers of concentrate that make up a 15 gallon batch that we can use in our ATV tanks; will let you know when they become available.
The Forest Service would like to come up and help us spray the trails this year. On a Monday in July. More info on group trail spraying to come after date firmed up.
Please try and keep a rough accounting of locations; how many gallons of herbicide and how many hours you sprayed. (in early Sept we need to report to Forest Service to continue to receive “free” herbicide)

2023 Annual Parade & Picnic
Thank you—it's a wrap!
Thank you to everyone (practically the whole mountain :) who came out to participate and celebrate in our annual parade and picnic. It was one for the books! The silent auction raised a total of $2,759 for SCWR! Thanks to Kylie Purcell for creating our video that captured it all and the efforts of the board to make this event happen.
